CHOCO MUCHO’S TEAM CAPTAIN MADDIE MADAYAG SUFFERS ACL INJURY

Days after the game between Choco Mucho and Petro Gazz, the Flying Titans announced on August 13 that their team captain, middle blocker Madayag suffered a left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

And it’s through the team’s social media account, Twitter, the news was shared alongside their gratitude and in hope of Madayag’s fast recovery.

“Salute to our Captain Maddie. Thank you for leading the team with a strong heart, passion, and determination! You have led the Flying Titans to reach new heights!” the management said.

“We are all praying for your speedy recovery from your ACL injury. Nothing can stop the heart of a true Titan!”

Madayag had to be wheeled off the court in game 1, fourth set after an awkward landing with her left foot first as Petro Gazz’s Ria Meneses rejected her attack.

It’s also possible that Choco Mucho has been into physical stress due to seven straight game days in the gravely jammed PVL to which coach Oliver Almadro chose to bench the team’s usual starters in their game 2.

Back in 2016, Madayag also suffered a torn ACL in her right knee while representing the Ateneo de Manila University and had to take a one-year rest to recover and later on aided Ateneo to win a UAAP title in Season 81.

For now, what’s only known to the public is that the former Ateneo star’s surgery will take place sometime in the next week.
