CHOCO MUCHO EDGES CHERY TIGGO IN FIVE-SET THRILLER

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans stunned the defending PVL Open Conference champions Chery Tiggo Crossovers in a grueling five-set showdown, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17, 17-25, 18-16, at the Paco Arena on Sunday.

Kat Tolentino led the team with 23 points off 19 attacks and four blocks, while Des Cheng finished one point shy of a triple-double with nine points, 17 digs, and 12 receptions.

Choco Mucho and Chery Tiggo took turns in winning sets taking on first and third and second and fourth, respectively.

In the deciding match of the game, Choco Mucho raced to a 7-4 lead with contributions from Cheng and Aduke Ogunsanya.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat stepped up her defense and offense for the Crossovers to tie the score at 9-all.

Chery Tiggo then took the lead, 13-11, however, Tolentino scored three straight points to bring the advantage to the Flying Titans, 14-13.

The seesaw battle continued for both teams until they were tied at 16 in the extended fifth set.

Chery’s endgame efforts to claim their first win were derailed by consecutive attack errors from Mylene Paat and Shaya Adorador, which led to the Titans’ victory.

Santiago-Manabat scored her conference-high 29 points off 25 attacks and four blocks, Adorador added 13 markers, while Paat and Rachel Austero each had nine.

Choco Mucho improved to 2-0 in Pool A with the win and will face the undefeated Cignal HD Spikers for a quarterfinal berth.

Chery Tiggo, on the other hand, is on the verge of being eliminated after three games with a winless record. They will be up against the Black Mamba-Army Lady Troopers next, who are also looking for their first victory.
