Yulo successfully secured the top medal in the floor exercise, the event where he won a historic world championship two years ago, after scoring 15.300 points, while also settling for bronze on the vault with a score of 15.000.

The 21-year-old outshined Uchida Hayato (14.700) and Takahiro Goshima (14.466) for the gold medal.

He then scored 15.000 points securing third place in vault, finishing behind Asato Keisuke (15.233) and Tanigawa Wataru (15.200).

The 54th edition of the competition was his first event after his maiden Olympic appearance in Tokyo last July where he failed to make it to the finals of the floor exercise, his pet event, but managed to secure a respectable fourth-place finish in the vault.

The competition is also an excellent build-up for Yulo to the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship in Kitakysuhu, Japan from October 18 to 24.
