“Afril is Afril. Nandiyan lagi ’yan,” Coach Pat Aquin said of Bernardino who poured 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Thailand tried to keep in step with the Philippines in the first half with Gilas having a six points lead in the first frame and 10 points in the second quarter.

However, Gilas Pilipinas kept the Thais in the paint and extended the lead to 21 points in the third quarter as Stephanie Berberabe helped inside the court with her 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Following the feat are Trina Guytingco with 10 points, while Gabi Bade, Clare Castro, and Chack Cabinbin each had nine points, with Castro also bolstering six rebounds and capped the 2-0 card for the team.

“…the others were exceptional. Those who contributed like sila Trina, sila Gabi, sila Stephanie Berberabe, sila Chack, si Khate Castillo, Andrea Tongco who hit two three-pointers. We are just happy na it’s just one person. It’s everybody contributing,” said Aquino.
