ALEX EALA TO SUIT UP FOR 2021 FRENCH OPEN THIS JUNE

Eala came off from a finals appearance in the women’s doubles event of the W25 Platja D’Aro in Spain with Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva in May.

For this year’s French Open, the 16-year old is seeded No. 2 and is looking to surpass her semifinals finish last year after suffering a 4-6, 3-6, defeat to eventual champion Elsa Jacquemot of France.

Jacquemot opted to play in the women’s singles event this year making ITF No. 2 juniors player Andorra’s Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva the top seed of the competition.

Eala will be back for her juniors campaign after nine professional tournaments this year highlighted by a maiden singles title in the W15 Manacor last January.

After capturing the 2020 Australian Open girls’ doubles title with Indonesian partner Priska Madelyn Nugroho, she will be aiming to add Roland Garros to her juniors grand slam trophy list.

Eala currently sits at No. 3 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings and jumped to No. 624 from No. 661 according to the updated WTA list this week.
