ALEX EALA, RUSSIAN PARTNER LAND SECOND IN W25 BID
Filipina Alex Eala and Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva bagged second place in the W25 Platja D’Aro in Spain Saturday against Lithuania's Justina Mikulskyte and Romanian Oana Goergeta Simion.
The mixed-nationality duo was defeated by a score of 6-3, 7-5, in the final.
Eala and Oksana had a good start yet were not effective in the long run as Mikulskyte and Simion went for straight sets.
Nonetheless, the second set was a thrilling game as Eala and her partner closed the gap, tying at 5-5.
While the duo performed well during their way to the final match as they outlasted the Dutch pair Isabela Haverlag and Suzan Lamens during the semi-finals, 6-3, 6-1.
And also, they defeated Spain’s Jessica Maneiro and Claudia Ferrer (6-0, 6-2).
Eala is no stranger in the field of doubles as she established her name and bagged a medal in the Australian Grand Slam in the juniors double with her Indonesian partner Priska Nugroho.
Still, a good start for Eala’s debut in the doubles tournament in the professional circuit by bagging the second spot.
