ALASKA SLAMS BLACKWATER, NOTCHING TWO STRAIGHT VICTORY
Alaska Aces emerged victorious against Blackwater Elites with a score of 120-82 sealing its second win on Tuesday evening in the PBA Philippine Cup at Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.
Aces snatched the game registering 9-0 in the first twelve minutes going ahead with a 38-17 advantage in the opening period.
The aces lead the opening frame at 41 points, continuing two winning streaks after the unfortunate two losses.
Aces rookie Barkley Eboña finished the game pouring out 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field in 24 minutes of action, garnering the highest-scoring rookie in the Philippine cup yet.
“We’re happy with the growth of Barkley. To be honest, we had a plan for him. He’s still learning and improving,” Alaska head coach Jeff Cariaso revealed.
Former tamaraw, Eboña put up seven points while Vic Manuel earned ten points in the 24-8 midway start leading ahead in the first quarter.
Robbie Herndon paced Blackwater with 21 points while Manuel contributed 16 points and nine boards in total.
More Aces standouts contribute to the wire-to-wire victory with the Elites. Abu Tratter scored 14 points, Mike DiGregorio posted 12 points whilst Jeron Teng added 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. The 14-man milkmen scored at least two points each towards the victory against Blackwater.
“I think the defense tonight was tremendous,” Cariaso added.
“They really followed the game plan that we implemented so as a coach you’re always happy that they were able to execute,” Cariaso said, feeling enthusiastic with the tournament’s results.
For the Elites, Ed Daquioag came off the bench with 18 points, while Mike Tolomia tallied ten markers and seven dimes.
Alaska nabs its second victory, improving to 2-2 standing, tying with Backwater, Meralco, and San Miguel.
