AJ EDU SUSTAINS THIRD ACL TEAR
Toledo Rockets Aj Edu will be out for an extended period of time due to a third knee injury.
According to a report from Toledo Blade, it was confirmed that Edu sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear in his left knee during his practice with the Rockets in preparation for the US NCAA 2021-2022 season.
The report stated that the injury is not seen as career-ending, with the Rockets hoping that the 6-foot-10 center could still play for the season.
Edu previously had an ACL tear on his right knee during his stint with the Batang Gilas in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Greece.
The Filipino-Nigerian suffered a meniscus tear in the same knee during his sophomore year with the Rockets putting him on the sideline for their remaining games.
Edu will be expected to out for six to eight months to recover and rehabilitate from his injury and was allowed to fly back to his home in London to be with his family.
He previously expressed his desire to play for Gilas Pilipinas, however, will be scratched from the national team for their upcoming campaign for the FIBA Asia Cup next month.
