YOUTH ORGANIZATION LAUNCHES BROADCAST-BASED LEARNING SYSTEM IN ALBAY
TO MAKE distance learning more equitable for all, a youth organization based in Albay province launched a broadcast-based education system.
The Albay Youth Organizations, Inc. launched the “2D Module Legends—2D On-Air Learning Project,” which aims to produce and broadcast learning modules through local radio stations.
During the launch, representatives of the Department of Education, the United States Agency for International Development and TAYO Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement sealing the partnership.
Albay Representative Joey Salceda also expressed support to the project.
Salceda donated 1,500 radios to local schools to support the project and also vowed funding.
“Without equity in distance learning, the lifetime learning losses could reach as high as 16 percent of lifetime income lost, and between three to six years’ worth of learning foregone,” Salceda said.
