THE LOCAL government of Silang, Cavite vowed to give priority to children’s welfare during a series of meetings attended by local officials.

The Local Council For the Protection of Children discussed ways to protect children from abuse and discrimination during the four-day event that was led by Mayor Kevin Anarna.

The crucial role of barangay officials in the implementation of guidelines and policies on child protection was also tackled.

“Tinitiyak din ng pamahalaang bayan na binibigyan nila ng importansya ang kahalagahan at kapakanan ng ating mga kabataan sa ating bayan,” the LGU said.

Those who attended the discussions were Vice Mayor Ted Carranza, Municipal Local Government Operation Officer Jonalyn Cate Magcayang, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Officer Dr. Cherry Cuevas, Women and Children Protection Unit Advocator Mrs. Bhingle Villarama, ABC President Capt. Ohmie Toledo, Councilor Cokiat Garcia and Municipal Legal Council Irineo Anarna.

Earlier, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and Office of the Mayor provided psychological first aid to children who were victims of fire.
