ONLY 10 ISABELA TEACHERS ARE COVID19 POSITIVE — DEPED
ONLY 10 teachers from a secondary school in Ilagan City, Isabela were tested positive of Covid19 and not 11 as earlier reported, according to the Department of Education.
DepEd Cagayan Valley Director Estela Cariño made the clarification after the teachers went through swab testing procedure.
“Contrary to the report that 11 teachers in the city tested positive on Covid19, 10 teachers in a secondary school in the city underwent a swab test and all tested positive,” Cariño said.
All the teachers belong to the same school.
Carino noted all the infected teachers are asymptomatic and are now in quarantine facilities.
“The Schools Division Office of the City of Ilagan further clarifies that such unfortunate events has nothing to do whatsoever, with the destruction of self-learning modules or any materials to that effect,” she added.
The DepEd Cagayan Valley Region said the 10 teachers were infected after attending a meeting without knowing one of them was asymptomatic.
She also said the modules are first given to barangay halls which are then distributed by barangay officials.
Earlier, Isabela Governor Rodito Albano III issued an executive order placing Ilagan City under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from October 6 to 16 after a spike of Covid19 cases was recorded in the city.
