NUSP URGES KCAST TO PROTECT STUDENT’S RIGHTS AND WELFARE

/ 22 July 2021

THE NATIONAL Union of Students of the Philippines Davao chapter urged the Kapalong Colleges of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology to take action against the professor who allegedly degraded a student.

The group called on the Commission on Higher Education to act on the clear violation of the student’s rights by Oliver Mercado, a professor in the said college.

Reports said that Mercado degraded and flunked the student “for not following instructions.”

The union reiterated its call to protect the student‘s rights and welfare, especially under the pandemic where these kinds of actions are rampant.

“The feudal culture propagated by a repressive regime is intolerable and a clear violation of our rights as students!” the NUSP said.
