IFUGAO KID EARNS PRAISES FOR RETURNING P100K
AN 11-year-old boy from Asipulo, Ifugao province was lauded for returning more than P100,000 to its rightful owner.
In a Facebook post, the Department of Education Tayo Youth Formation Division Office of Ifugao proudly shared the story of Denard B. Uy-uyon and lauded the boy’s honesty.
“It was validated lately that this learner Denard B. Uy-uyon, 11 yr. old, a grade V pupil of Panubtuban Elementary School, Asipulo District found a big cash in the amount of P102,450 and gave it to his mother. Eventually, they were able to contact the owner and gave the money,” DepEd Tayo-YFDVOI said.
“Indeed, this young boy heard well and internalized the teachings of his parents, relatives, teachers and other mentors from other agencies. He is now a model to other children,” it added.
Denard said he found the lost pouch inside a passenger jeepney and immediately alerted his mother Daisy.
Through the help of an ID, Daisy contacted the owner identified as Myrna Nalliw.
“Tiningnan ko kung may ID sa pouch, nakita ko ‘yung receipt mula sa Landbank kasi kawi-withdraw pala sa araw na ‘yun at doon ko nakita ‘yung number ni Ate Myrna,” Daisy said.
For his honesty, Denard received a reward of P10,000 from a resident of Kiangan town in Ifugao province.
Meanwhile, netizens expressed their admiration for Denard’s honesty.
“Salute to you, young man. Grow to be a very honest man. May your tribe multiply” and “You are the mirror of all human creature you are still kid but you are full of cleanliness go and preach to other people God Bless and may you multiply” were some of the comments posted on social media.
