HOUSE Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III led the ceremonial turnover of checks to 108 state universities and colleges (SUCs) to help settle funding deficiencies under the government’s free higher education program.

The ceremony, dubbed the “Affirmation of Compliance and Commitment to Settle the Free Higher Education Deficiency,” was held at Andaya Hall. It brought together officials from the House of Representatives, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and SUCs nationwide.

House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Mikaela Angela Suansing said the House remains committed to working with CHED, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and SUCs to address the underlying causes of the funding shortfall.

Suansing also vowed to help ensure the sustained implementation of the free higher education program.

Also present during the turnover were House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis, Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand “Dinand” Hernandez, and officials and representatives of SUCs from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
