THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology, through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Davao Occidental, recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education-Davao Occidental Division for the implementation of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology program.

The Education department sought the DOST’s assistance to establish a food processing center with food product development equipment and chemical, physio-chemical, microbial and sensorial laboratory analysis.

Under this initiative, the DOST in Region XI will provide senior high school students and faculty the needed technical assistance for product development in Davao Occidental province.

The DOST has also rolled out CEST projects in Barangays Demoloc, Pinalpalan, Little Baguio, Manuel Peralta, Mana, Lais and the fishing village in the said province.

The project aims to ensure access to quality information that can be used to empower education and teaching techniques and provide more opportunities to the marginalized sectors.
