DICT COMPLETES INSTALLATION OF FREE WI-FI IN LOOC, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO
FREE Wi-Fi spots are now available in Looc, Occidental Mindoro, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said.
Ambil Island in Looc now has access to free internet through DICT’s Free Wi-Fi for All Program.
The program allows residents, especially those in isolated and disadvantaged areas, to access data and information.
Free Wi-fi sites are in the Tambo Elementary School, Ambil Barangay Hall, Ambil Plaza, and Ambil Basketball Court.
“Your DICT commits to continue our intensified efforts to meet the country’s increased need for better and more reliable connectivity,” DICT Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic said.
“As the country gradually reopens, we hope to establish inclusive connectivity to ensure that Filipinos can benefit from the opportunities in the recovering Philippine economy,” he added.
In accordance with Republic Act 10929, otherwise known as the “Free Internet Access in Public Places Act”, the DICT provides free internet access in public places.
These public places include plazas, schools, Rural Health Units, transport terminals, airports, seaports, hospitals and community quarantine sites among others.
