THE DEPARTMENT of Education office in Region VII condemned the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo on Saturday. Nine others died in the brazen morning attack.

Sixteen other persons were injured.

“[We] strongly support the call for all-out justice. The condemnable acts of the perpetrators must be prosecuted and punished,” DepEd-7 said in a statement.

The regional office and the twenty Schools Division Offices extended their deepest sympathies and prayers for the family, friends and constituents of Degamo.

“His support to the Department of Education is greatly remembered. We also pray for the souls of those who died alongside with the governor,” the office said.

The four-time governor was attacked by heavily-armed men near his house.
