THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines has appointed Prof. Early Sol Gadong from UP High School in Iloilo as its new Faculty Regent. She was sworn in as the 28th Faculty Regent of the university on January 6.

The oath of office was administered by University President Angelo Jimenez in the Board of Regents Room at Quezon Hall, UP Diliman.

Jimenez welcomed Gadong to the Board, emphasizing the importance of negotiation in the Board of Regents’ work.

Messages were also delivered by All UP Academic Employees Union (AUPAEU) national president Perlita Raña, Prof. Hermie Cartagena (vice president for faculty of the AUPAEU Iloilo Chapter), and Jonathan Beldia (president of the UP Workers’ Alliance).

“Guided by a service-oriented leadership approach, the Office of Faculty Regent will focus on initiatives and policies aimed at the welfare of the UP community and the larger Filipino society,” UP said.

Gadong’s term will run until the end of 2026.
