PUBLIC school teachers and personnel under the Department of Education will receive P15,000 service recognition incentive, a DepEd official said.

In a Facebook post, Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla shared a memorandum dated Dec. 19, 2022, signed by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, granting SRI for all eligible employees for this year.

Teachers and personnel will receive the one-time grant not earlier than Dec. 20, 2022, but not later than Jan. 6, 2023.

“The funding requirement for the purpose will be sourced from available FT 2022 released allotments for Personnel Services and may be augmented by available 2022 allotment for maintenance and other operating expenses, subject to rules on modification of allotment,” the memorandum said.

The grant will be given in cash and not through ATM payroll accounts.

The DepEd encouraged field offices to distribute the cash incentive immediately and properly.

Last week, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the grant of SRI and rice allowance to government employees.

The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition welcomed the approval of the SRI for teachers as “this is higher than the past years which was only at P10,000.”

“Ayos na rin ito, salamat pa rin at natugunan ang isa sa kahilingan ng mga empleyado. Sana maibigay nang mas maaga,” TDC National Chairperson Benjo Basas said in a statement.
