SOLON WANTS MORE BUDGET FOR TESDA IN 2022

/ 17 October 2021

SURIGAO del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II filed a resolution urging House leaders to increase the funds for appropriation to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for 2022.

In his Resolution 2246, Matugas wants to increase TESDA’s budget to P7.864 billion by next year.

Matugas said Technical Vocational Education and Training has always been recognized as a great tool for poverty alleviation as it equips the workforce for employment.

The lawmaker added the importance of TVET becomes even more relevant in the midst of the pandemic where many Filipinos have lost their jobs.

“The TESDA must be given enough budgetary support in order to effectively carry out its mandate of providing accessible and relevant TVET,” Matugas cited in his resolution.

The solon stressed among those that need funding is the budget for the new entrants under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education, the 2019 toolkits and the Supporting Innovation in the Philippine TVET system.
