SOLON PUSHES FOR NEW TESDA CENTER IN SOUTHERN LEYTE
SOUTHERN Leyte 2nd District Representative Christopherson ‘Coco’ Yap is advocating for the establishment of a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority training and accreditation center in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.
Through House Bill 10952, or the proposed Hinunangan TESDA Training and Assessment Center Act, Yap highlighted TESDA’s key role in providing high-quality technical-vocational education and training to Filipino workers.
He pointed out that TESDA programs equip individuals with essential skills, enhancing their employability both locally and abroad.
“The Province of Southern Leyte faces challenges related to unemployment and underemployment, particularly among disadvantaged families,” Yap said in his explanatory note.
The proposed center aims to provide accessible, high-quality technical-vocational education to the residents of Hinunangan and nearby municipalities, thereby increasing employment opportunities for the local population.
Yap added that the bill would have a transformative impact on the local community, opening doors to new opportunities and fostering sustainable economic growth in the region.
This initiative would offer residents a greater chance to become more productive and competitive in the labor market.
