SCHOOLCHILDREN WARNED: NO ENROLLMENT FOR DEFECTIVE GADGETS

/ 11 July 2021

ELEMENTARY students from the City of Manila on Saturday presented their worn out and defective tablets after school officials required that they can only re-enroll if they have working gadgets.

Concerned parents of the schoolchildren are worried over the cost of repair for the gadgets after public school officials told them they need to return the provided gadgets in good condition to allow their children’s re-enrollment for School Year 2021-2022.

A common issue with the tablets was broken LCD screens.

The tablets were provided by the city government of Manila last year as part of its preparation for the online learning scheme.

The local government of Manila provided 110,000 tablets with SIM cards to public school students and reserved 60,080 tablets for new enrollees.

A P60 million budget was earmarked in case of an increase in public school enrollees.
