THE ROMANIAN government is now accepting application for its scholarship program for the academic year 2025-2026.

The scholarship grants foreign nationals from non-European Union countries, including the Philippines, the opportunity to pursue their bachelors, masters, or doctoral studies in accredited Romanian higher education institutions.

The program covers all fields except medicine, dental medicine, and pharmacy.

Interested applicants may submit their applications before March 12, 2025, at the “Study in Romania” website (scholarships.studyinromania.gov.ro).

The Romanian Embassy in Manila on Tuesday said results of the selection process will be announced by e-mail to each applicant, on or around June 30, 2025.

“The Embassy of Romania in the Philippines, in line with its efforts in fostering cooperation in the education sector towards the expansion of the thriving relations between Romania and the Philippines, is encouraging Filipinos to take their chances in this unique opportunity to immerse in a new yet welcoming culture, expand their horizons, and experience what Romania offers,” it said in an advisory.

The study program for the undergraduate and master’s levels is in Romanian but a preparatory year for language studies prior to the actual start of classes will be granted to those who do not speak Romanian.

For PhD level, grantees could opt for studies in Romanian or in a foreign language set by the doctoral school (English, French or German).

The program, funded by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attracts thousands of applicants around the globe, annually. In 2024, at least 81,914 applications were submitted from over 100 countries. (PNA)
