QC LGU URGES PARENTS TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM HFMD
THE QUEZON City local government has urged parents to protect their children from Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) to ensure their safety.
According to data from the QC Epidemiology & Surveillance Division, HFMD cases in the city increased by 45% from January 1 to 15 this year compared to the same period in 2024.
Children under the age of five are most affected, accounting for 74% of the total cases, the LGU reported.
HFMD is transmitted through direct contact with an infected person, touching contaminated objects, sneezing and coughing, and contact with the feces of an infected person.
“While HFMD usually heals on its own, it’s important to prevent further transmission and ensure the safety of the entire community,” the LGU said.
QC LGU reminded the public to teach children proper cough and sneeze etiquette, good hygiene practices, and the importance of regular handwashing.
The public is also advised to visit the nearest health center if symptoms of HFMD are present to receive appropriate medical care.
