PISA GAINS SHOW EDUCATION REFORMS BEARING FRUIT — SOLON

/ 12 September 2026

HOUSE Speaker Bojie Dy welcomed the Philippines’ improved performance in the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), calling the gains an encouraging sign that sustained education reforms and investments are beginning to yield results.

Dy said the improvement reflects the collective efforts of the national government, the Department of Education (DepEd), school leaders, and teachers who translate policies into meaningful learning inside classrooms.

The Speaker commended Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and the entire DepEd for maintaining their focus on improving learning outcomes despite the long-standing challenges confronting the country’s basic education system.

Dy also credited President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for making education a national priority, saying continued government investment in schools and young learners is essential to achieving lasting improvements.

While welcoming the country’s progress, Dy stressed that the latest PISA results should not lead to complacency, emphasizing the need to ensure that quality education reaches every Filipino child.

He assured that Congress will continue supporting reforms, programs, and funding initiatives that strengthen public education and provide teachers with the resources they need to improve student learning.
