PH SHOULD ACCEPT PISA TEST ON CREATIVE THINKING AT ITS FACE VALUE — LAWMAKER
SENATOR Loren Legarda admitted that the government should study the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) test on creative thinking.
PISA test showed that 15-year-old students in the Philippines scored 14 points on average in the newly introduced creative thinking assessment of the 2022 cycle placing the Philippines in the bottom four among 64 countries.
Legarda said that the government should analyze the basis of the study including the schools participating.
The senator also seeks to determine the interventions that should be implemented to solve the problem.
Legarda stressed that Filipinos are creative thinkers but the government must assess the lessons being taught to students.
The senator, however, stressed that we should not be defensive on the result of the studies and accept it at face value to implement solutions.
Filipino students’ performance placed the Philippines in the same score range as three other countries on the bottom or countries whose scores are not statistically different from the Philippines: Albania, Uzbekistan, and Morocco.
