VACCINES made by Pfizer and Moderna will be allotted for the inoculation of minors, vaccine czar Secretary Galvez Jr. said.

“We have decided na ‘yung other vaccine lang like ‘yung Moderna and Pfizer iko-concentrate namin ‘yun sa tinatawag nating pediatric vaccination, considering that it will also be used as boosters for 12 to 17 years old,” Galvez said.

“We only have two vaccines that can be used for 12 to 17 years old while only one vaccine brand for 5 to 11 years old,” he added.

The government is also waiting for the emergency use authorization of Covid19 jab for 0 to 4 years old.

“As of this moment nakikita namin na tataas ang requirement ng pediatric vaccination because we are starting already the 5-11 and later pagka nagkaroon na ng EUA ang 0-4, we will start it again so nakikita natin malaki ang requirement natin,” Galvez said.

“We will be needing 12 million doses for 12 to 17 years old age bracket, over 15.56 million for 5 to 11 years old as well as 11.11 million doses for infants and toddlers or 0-4 population,” he added.

The vaccine czar said that the reformulated Pfizer Covid19 vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11 will arrive on January 31.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration earlier said that three more Covid19 vaccine makers — Covaxin, Sinovac, and Sinopharm — have applied for emergency use authorization to allow their jabs for kids and minors.
