EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara led the launch of an initiative to expand reliable internet access in public schools across Pakil, Laguna, through a partnership among the Department of Education–Schools Division Office of Laguna, Prime Infra Foundation, and Ahunan Power.

During the launch on Wednesday, Angara highlighted the importance of reliable connectivity in helping schools and students cope with frequent class disruptions caused by severe weather.

“This is life-changing for our students and teachers, especially during times of calamity. The Education Commission noted a record number of days missed by our learners, with some school divisions losing as many as 40 to 50 days of classes,” Angara said.

“It will motivate our students, our teachers, and our community,” he added.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement covering the rollout of reliable internet connectivity in beneficiary schools across Pakil.

Ahunan Power said the initiative supports government efforts to expand students’ access to digital tools and learning opportunities while equipping students and teachers with resources that can help drive innovation in education.

The initiative is part of Ahunan Power’s Tayo Na Pakil community engagement program, which focuses on education, the environment, heritage, and health and wellness.
