POLE vault star EJ Obiena recently visited the Department of Education and met with Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

During the meeting, Obiena discussed his initiative to enhance the department’s sports programs, focusing on athletics, particularly pole vaulting.

In partnership with Milo Sports, Obiena expressed his support for DepEd’s grassroots school sports initiatives.

Secretary Angara congratulated Obiena on his achievements and welcomed his recommendations for the National Games.

Obiena was joined by his mother, Mrs. Jeanette Obiena, who served as a Technical Consultant for Athletics at this year’s National Games.

Currently ranked No. 3 globally, Obiena is also a two-time Olympian and ended up fourth in the pole vault in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
