THE MARITIME Industry Authority announced the resumption of face-to-face trainings and assessments of seafarers after the lifting of the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
MARINA said all practical assessments of Assessment Centers and Maritime Training Institutions located in the NCR Plus will continue provided they comply with strict health protocols.
“With the lifting of the ECQ, affected ACs are hereby advised to reschedule all affected seafarers in accordance with their approved post-ECQ operation plan,” MARINA said in a post on Facebook.
It advised affected MTIs to reschedule the affected classes/assessments to a later date.
“With the lifting of the ECQ, MTIs are directed to implement their post-ECQ operation plan before resuming their operations,” the agency said.
In a separate post, MARINA also announced the suspension of all scheduled theoretical examination.
“This is in line with the government’s declaration that the National Capital Region will be placed under modified enhanced community quarantine on the aforementioned period,” it said.
“Further, all scheduled appointments for final evaluation of theoretical examination in Manila from 12-30 April 2021 are likewise suspended,” it added.
All affected seafarers shall be given new reschedules. The examination and assessment division of the STCW Office will announce the schedule of examinees through text message and e-mail.
“Seafarers who will not be able to take the examination or attend the final evaluation on the given date may still request to reschedule their transaction to a later available date through SMS or email. It is not necessary to report personally at the MARINA Office to secure new schedule,” the agency said.
