MANILA Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said on Tuesday that the city government has procured 57,622 more android tablets for students for School Year 2021-2022.

Domagoso said the initiative is the city’s way of helping students amid the distance learning set-up.

“Ito po ay ang ating mga hakbang na ginagawa upang suportahan ang bawat Manileñong estudyante at mga guro sa kabila ng pandemyang ating kinakaharap,” he said on Facebook.

The city government also increased the internet data allocation per month of learners and teachers to 20GB from the previous 10GB.

“Umasa kayo na kasama ninyo ang buong pamalahaang lungsod dito sa hamon ng Covid19 pandemic,” the mayor said.

In July, Domagoso approved the purchase of 60,820 tablets worth P364 million for newly enrolled public school students.

Last year, the city government distributed  110,000 gadgets equipped with SIM cards and 11,000 laptops with pocket Wi-Fi devices worth P994 million to students and teachers.
