THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) is coordinating with local authorities and law enforcement following a reported shooting incident at Banga National High School in Banga, South Cotabato.

In a statement, DepEd said it is working with its Schools Division Office and Regional Office to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and extend assistance to those affected.

The agency said the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and other school personnel remain its immediate priority.

DepEd also expressed readiness to provide psychological first aid, as well as mental health and psychosocial support, to members of the school community affected by the incident.

As authorities continue their investigation, the department appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information.

DepEd reiterated that protecting learners and the entire school community remains a top priority.
