LAWMAKER FILES TWO EDUCATION BILLS
KABATAAN Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel filed two education bills and urged the new administration to certify them as urgent.
Manuel filed the Safe School Reopening Bill and Emergency Student Aid and Relief Bill that seek to address the education crisis caused by the Covid19 pandemic.
The measures also aim to fund, fast-track and ensure safe, accessible and quality education for all students.
To supplement such measures, the Students’ Rights bill was also filed to protect the democratic rights of students especially those who are members of student councils, school publications and other school organizations.
Manuel also filed the Academic Freedom Bill, Repeal Terror Law Bill and the Human Rights Defenders Bill to uphold and protect basic freedoms.
The lawmaker spearheaded the move to institutionalize the UP-Department of National Defense Accord in the previous Congress.
