GOV’T URGED TO ASSIST STUDENTS OF COLEGIO DE SAN LORENZO
REP. Mark Go on Tuesday urged the government to give full assistance to the parents and students affected by the sudden closure of the Colegio de San Lorenzo in Quezon City.
The chairman of the House Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education said he is coordinating with Commission on Higher Education Chairman Prospero de Vera III in seeking help for the students.
One possible assistance that can be given to affected students is to coordinate with other schools to accept them.
The lawmaker lamented the sudden closure but he said there was no law preventing schools from shutting down.
“Tiningnan ko alituntunin ng Department of Education at CHED walang probisyon na nakasulat na dapat may one o two year notice (before closure). Problema po ito,” he said, adding that they will draft mechanisms to solve this issue.
