F2F CLASSES IN BASIC EDUCATION ALLOWED UNDER ALERT LEVEL 2

LIMITED face-to-face classes in basic education are now allowed under Alert Level 2, according to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

The IATF-MEID on Thursday approved the recommendation to place Metro Manila under the less restrictive quarantine status from November 5 to 21.

Under the updated guidelines on Alert Level 2, schools are permitted to reopen “subject to prior approval of the Office of the President.”

The Department of Education has identified  100 public schools that will participate in the pilot run of limited physical classes on November 15.

These schools include 10 in the Ilocos region, 10 in Central Luzon, 5 in Calabarzon, 9 in Bicol region, 3 in Western Visayas, 8 in Central Visayas, 10 in Eastern Visayas, 8 in Zamboanga Peninsula, 10 in Northern Mindanao, 10 in Davao, 12 in Soccsksargen and 14 in Caraga.

For now, no schools in the National Capital Region will join the dry run of in-person classes.

DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcom Garma said the agency is still in the process of completing the list of 20 private schools to implement the limited F2F classes.

The final list will be released on November 12.
