DOST TO LAUNCH DENGUE DRUG THIS YEAR

/ 24 August 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology on Monday said that it will release anti-dengue drugs within the year.

A report from the PTV said that the first phase of the trial yielded good results.

The herbal capsules were the result of a project called “Efficacy and Safety of Orally Administered Fixed-Dose Combination Capsule of RGA02 + JRA01 + ASB02 in the Treatment of Dengue Without Warning Signs Among Adult Filipinos in Cavite: A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial.”

DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina Guevara said that the drug underwent toxicity testing on animals and was developed using three herbal plants.

The project was funded by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

The country logged 21,478 dengue cases from January to April in 2021.
