/ 22 August 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development partnered with three higher education institutions to conduct health-related researches to strengthen the country’s fight against Covid19.

Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and San Carlos College in Pangasinan are the three HEIs that served as partners.

“Researchers from the ADMU have printed eight out of the targeted 10 cough sensor prototypes and performed antibacterial testing on the material,” DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said.

On the other hand, DLSU researchers are currently testing their photo luminescent metals to determine its efficacy in detecting various bacteria.

The DOST chief said the La Salle team is also coordinating with the Hokkaido University for possible collaboration on the project.

Similarly, he said the project team from SCS already completed schematics for the prototypes of the thermal scanner helmet, and secured feedback, comments and suggestions on the device.
