EDUCATION Secretary Leonor Briones has ordered the immediate investigation of a Tiktok video of a teacher that insinuated a potential child abuse action.

Briones instructed the regional director of the Department of Education in Central Luzon to look into the matter and to impose sanctions if warranted.

“We remind our teachers and non-teaching personnel to always subject our words and actions, including our social media activities, to the highest degree of ethical and professional standards,” Briones said in a statement.

“As teachers and public servants, we must always champion a safe and nurturing learning environment for children, where physical, verbal, sexual and other forms of abuse and discrimination are renounced,” she added.

Briones said DepEd does not tolerate any forms of abuse towards children.

“As we celebrate the National Children’s Month, DepEd will continue to strengthen its policies and capacity-building activities to further promote our advocacy of protecting our learners against abuse,” the DepEd chief added.
