EDUCATION Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio graced the flag ceremony to mark the 55th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

DepEd officials and representatives of various ASEAN countries attended the event.

“Each of our countries has unique strengths. But our diversity is our strength,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“To help each other, we must develop our human capital and workforce by jointly developing the skills that our youth may capitalize on in the future,” she added.

After the flag raising activity, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the ASEAN Culture Exbihit where the culture of ASEAN countries such as their traditional clothes, games and musical instruments were presented.

“Ang ASEAN ay samahan ng mga bansa sa Timog-Silangang Asya na naglalayong magtulungan upang palakasin ang ekonomiya, pagtibayin ang pagkakaisa, at patatagin ang relasyon ng mga bansa sa rehiyon,” Duterte-Carpio said.
