THE DEPARTMENT of Education and the World Vision Foundation, Inc. collaborated to conduct a writing workshop on child labor issues.

The workshop, dubbed as Writeshop for the Development of Training Session Guides for Skill-building on Addressing Child Labor Issues, ran from June 20-22.

During the session, participants drafted several session guides with topics ranging from the concept of child labor to reporting and referral mechanisms used as training guides for the functionality of all child protection committees nationwide.

Officials from different government agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group, Department of Information and Communications Technology and DepEd’s Bureau of Learning Delivery and National Educators Academy of the Philippines were among the speakers.

Deped said it wants to establish child labor committees in schools in the country.

The activity was part of the global celebration of World Day Against Child Labor.
