8.5M STUDENTS ENROLL FOR SY 2021-2022

/ 26 August 2021

OVER 8.5 million students have so far enrolled for School Year 2021-2022, the Department of Education said on Wednesday.

As of August 25, 2021, 8,557,205 learners have enlisted. Enrollment started last August 16 and will run until September 13, the opening of classes.

Data from the Learner Information System Quick Count showed that Region IV-A (Calabarzon) had the highest number of enrollees — 1,430,535. It was followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 829,624, and National Capital Region (Metro Manila), 815,857.

There had been a considerable lag in the reporting of enrollment data because some schools have to collate the enrollment forms in drop boxes, the department said.

The DepEd allowed the use of drop boxes in booths, kiosks in front of the school, barangay hall, and other areas accessible to parents and guardians to facilitate enrollment.

“As we continuously prepare for a smooth opening of classes, we are urging parents and learners to communicate with their respective schools for the enrollment procedures. I also call those who did not enroll last school year to register now,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.

The DepEd deferred the submission of documentary requirements for public and private schools to December 31, 2021.
