KA LEODY BACKS CALL TO ABOLISH NTF-ELCAC

/ 30 November 2021

PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Ka Leody de Guzman supported calls to abolish the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict so that its funds can be used for other worthwhile projects.

He vowed to abolish the task force if he gets elected as president.

De Guzman said that the anti-communist agency is just a cash cow for some high military officials. He added that NTF-ECLAC’s budget could be better used for projects in social services and agrarian reform, among others.

He claimed that the creation of the task force is a violation of the 1998 Comprehensive Agreement on Respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law as it undermines peace talks.
