THE XAVIER University-Ateneo de Cagayan will establish a preservation zone for buildings with historical and exceptional significance.

Earlier, the National Historical Commission identified eight XU buildings which will be part of the Historic Preservation Zone. The buildings will be preserved and recognized as historical structures.

These buildings are the University Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Lucas Hall, Campion Hall, Xavier Hall, Science Center, Old Library, Library Annex and the Museo de Oro.

Museo de Oro is the country’s first folkloric museum.

The university, the first university in Mindanao, is also set to have a historical marker in 2033, in celebration of its 100 years of establishment.

The marker was applied for by the university in 2014, to celebrate the establishment of XU by Jesuits in 1933.
