VISAYAS STATE U TO HOUSE NAGOYA UNIVERSITY’S SECOND SATELLITE CAMPUS

/ 18 August 2021

THE VISAYAS State University will house the second satellite campus of the Nagoya University in Japan.

The VSU said that NU’s International Station for Tropical Agricultural Science will serve as a research center by doctorate students from NU in the Philippines.

VSU President Edgardo E. Tulin said that the students will also do some of their research work in VSU.

“They will enroll at NU and they will obtain their degrees from there but they will be doing the majority of their research work here in VSU using the laboratory facilities that will be refurbished under ISTAS. Their classes will be done online but part of their graduate education also [includes] one or two semesters of coursework in Nagoya,” Tulin said.

Six laboratories will be refurbished, costing around P9.3 million.

NU has also set up an ISTAS at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
