UST WINS UN VIDEO COMPETITION
NURSING students of the University of Santo Tomas won the Generation Connect Video Pitch Challenge organized by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union for their anti-misinformation artificial intelligence.
Trisha Mangahas, Stephen Marasigan, Qjiel Mariano, Ivan Martinez, Zysha Marquez, and Anne Novales founded the “NeoFlorence” team, named after Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing.
The team, mentored by Dr. Gian Carlo Torres and Dr. Sarah Maria Salazar of the UST College of Nursing, proposed an AI to tailor-fit health information to the public.
The team will present its findings at the Generation Connect Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in June 2022.
The winning film will be shown during the summit to international leaders, innovators, and advocates in the telecommunications industry from all over the world.
The ITU is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for all matters related to information and communication technologies.
Generation Connect aims to enable the youth’s active participation as essential stakeholders in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
