A FACULTY member from the University of Santo Tomas took home the award for Best Recording by a Child or For Children at the 37th Awit Awards.

Instructor Maria Theresa V. Roldan from the Conservatory of Music was honored for her liturgical Advent composition, “Magmasid, Bayang Hinirang.” The piece, based on the entrance antiphons for the four Sundays of Advent, was performed by the Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) under her musical direction.

YVP, one of the scholar choirs under the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines, is composed of members selected through Roldan’s choral program.

The Awit Awards, which celebrate Original Pinoy Music (OPM), featured over 30 categories this year, highlighting the best in the local music scene.
