USEP LAW SCHOOL TO OFFER FREE LEGAL SERVICES

/ 9 December 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines School of Law will provide free legal aid to the poor as part of its initiative to increase access to justice.

“People belonging to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors often have legal problems and are usually denied access to justice. The Covid19 pandemic has made their situation much worse,” USeP said on its Newsletter.

“The ramifications of the health crisis often affect their human rights, including their ability to access justice in a timely, fair, and effective manner,” it added.

Launched in July, USeP said that its Legal Aid Center will facilitate the initiative.

Law students, with the supervision of lawyers, will handle the cases.

The move is also in compliance with the Revised Law Student Practice Law which mandates schools to establish a law clinic.
