/ 18 July 2024

THE CENTER for West Visayan Studies of the University of the Philippines Visayas was among the esteemed recipients of the Heritage Award from the Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo City Local Culture and Arts Council.

CWVS Director Frances Anthea R. Redison received the award on behalf of the program.

She was accompanied by CWVS personnel Ophelia Balogo, Sashah Dioso, Darlene Calsado, and Faith Saraza.

“Founded on 26 June 1975, the CWVS, formerly known as the Visayan Studies Program, was established to respond to the need for a concerted effort to preserve and disseminate information about the cultural and historical legacy of Western Visayas,” UPV said.

The Heritage Award is given to individuals and organizations for their outstanding contribution to promoting Ilonggo culture and heritage.

In appreciation of their achievements and to honor the awardees, the ICLCAC hosted the 2024 Iloilo City Heritage Awards Night last week.
