AN ALUMNI group donated around $1,526 or P83,106 to the University of the Philippines Visayas Library to set up its archives section.

Represented by BS Fisheries graduate Jose Antonio Teodoro Samaniego, the UP Alumni Association North America turned over the donation earlier this month.

“It was made in the name of UPAANA pioneer Dr. Cynthia J. Ticao (BS 1978, UPV; MA Psychology 1991, UPD),” the university said.

“This donation is intended to help fund the project of the UPV Library to setup the UPV Archives Section at the New UPV Library Building,” it added.

The amount was received through the UPAA Iloilo Chapter, represented by its President Rene John Nuñez and Vice President Consuelo Geduspan.

University Librarian Analiza Linaugo expressed gratitude for the donation.

“Thank you so much for your continued support to the UPV Archives. Your donation will greatly help improve the Archives services, facilities, and equipment for the preservation of UP Visayas archival materials and special collections,” Linaugo said.

“We are extremely grateful for the support given by the UPAA North America and other donors. We look forward to more assistance from you,” she added.
