UPLB PARTNERS WITH DHSUD

/ 29 July 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Los Baños partnered with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development for the implementation of the Technical Assistance Program on Human Settlements Planning in Calabarzon Region.

The UPLB’s College of Human Ecology signed a Memorandum of Agreement with DHSUD for the collaborative partnership.

TAP-HSP Calabarzon will serve as a capacity-building program for faculty members from CHE’s Department of Community and Environmental Resource Planning. Under the program, knowledge and expertise of DHSUD-4A personnel and local government units will be discussed, with a focus on the preparation of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Local Shelter Planning.

UP Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. said that this endeavor reflects the increasing importance of human settlements and urban and regional planning.

“I look forward to the participation of our students in TAP-HSP, and prepare them as future licensed environmental planners,” Camacho added.

Regional Director Jann Roby R. Otero expressed hopes that the UPLB-DHSUD partnership will lead to a roadmap toward correct and responsive development and planning in the region.
